Demonia Shaker 100: Worth the Hype?

            Shoe wear has always been a huge contention within social settings, social acceptance rides on what you wear. There are many people who ignore these social standards and simply wear what they want. There is a footwear brand taking the nation by storm, Demonia. The parent company, Pleaser, opened its doors in 1993; the scene of Goth and alternative fashion styles experienced a huge high among teenagers and young adults in the 90’s. Pleaser saw the opportunity to cater to this uprise in alternative fashion; and the birth of Demonia came to be! By far, the Demonia Shaker 100 Platform Boots were 100% worth the purchase.

Pricing for Demonia boots can honestly vary between height, platform, shape, etc. A pair of Demonia’s typically starts around $90, which isn’t bad in all honesty. All the boots produced by the company are made with Vegan Leather, significantly cutting down the cruelty aspect of footwear. The pricing of these shoes may start off high, but there are so many ways to get your hands on these boots. Demonia boots are carried by various vendors, ranging from Walmart to Depop (a thrifted clothing site most popular with young adults). I just so happened to have gotten my pair from Walmart for around $71, which again is not bad at all.

Here comes the tricky part, sizing and fit. When getting these boots, it is important to keep in mind that these boots are made with materials that are a bit harder to stretch. The number one rule with these shoes is: SIZE UP. That rule is specifically to those who have bigger calves than the average. I hadn’t realized that my calves are a tad bit bigger than average, so it was a huge shock when I tried them on and couldn’t zip them up all the way. I’ve had to get creative with styling these boots; however, it would’ve been smarter to have sized up in these boots.

The attitude change after getting these boots is insane. Walking with these boots feels like such a power move, walking with such confidence and grace. I highly recommend these boots to anyone who is looking to put a little pep in their step. It is as if you are commanding all that is around you with two simple boots. A lot of my friends in high school had pairs of these boots and I never really understood the appeal to them. Although my friends rocked them, I didn’t feel as though they were something I could pull off. Now, I can confidently say that I rock these everywhere I go. If you need a little excitement and maybe some danger in your outfits, please get these shoes!

Overall, I am very much impressed and happy I got these boots. From the price point to the overall style of the shoe, these are worth the hype/price. I hadn’t realized that the history of these shoes dates back to only two decades. That goes to show that fashion can be timeless, regardless of the social status they hold.
